picasso emotions portraits
Third graders learned all about Pablo Picasso and his wonderful art! We read multiple books, and had in depth conversations about Picasso and his work. They looked at a abstract painting of Picasso's and wrote about what they see, think and wonder about the painting, then we discussed what they thought. We also did some quick emotions paintings using color, and shape, and discussed those afterwards as well. We then looked at some of Picasso's portraits and they drew their own portraits in the style of Picasso, added color with oil pastel and practiced blending. They then choose a color aligned with their emotion(s) and did a water color wash in the background.
