olympic torch drawing
Students are learning about and participating in Olympic events throughout specials. We started by talking about the significance of the "torch" and why it is so important in the Olympics. We then read the book "G is for Gold Medal" By Brad Bowles which is an informative alphabet book about the Olympics. They then got a worksheet that had many different style torches that they could use for inspiration for their own torch drawing. They drew their own torch on brown construction paper, cut it out and glued it to a white background. They then drew flames, and added tissue paper to their flames. In the background they designed their own Greek wreath around the torch and Greek designs as well, symbolizing the importance of Greece with the Olympics.
