Observational leaf drawings
First graders learned about observational drawing by looking at real leaves and drawing exactly what they see. They then had to re-draw their leaves on a black piece of paper and trace with white crayon and then trace each line and the outline of the leaf with clear glue. They then used oil pastels to add color to their leaves, they used the warm colors to overlap color and blend. The last step was to use colored chalk, they could choose a cool color and option to also use white and fill in and blend the background.
