mr. seahorse and texture
Kindergarten learned about texture!! We started by reading the book Mr. Seahorse, by Eric Carle. They then made their ocean background by drawing wavy lines for seaweed, circles for bubbles and if they wanted to add little fish they could, then they watercolor painted the water. We then talked about texture, implied texture when you can see it and actual texture when you can feel it and they made some textured paper. They did some texture rubbing with texture plates and crayons, and some sponge painting, scraping in paint and dipping and stamping with a fruit net to make texture. They then used their textured paper to make their seahorse; we drew it together step by step. They glued their seahorse onto their ocean, and added a sparkly eye. They last step was to add some tissue paper seaweed!
