MONSTERS DON'T EAT BROCCOLI
We started this project by reading the book "Monsters Don't Eat Broccoli" by Barbara Jean Hicks, and pointed out the shapes both geometric and organic that they saw throughout the book. They then had to draw their own monster on a secondary colored piece of construction paper using lots of different shapes using oil pastel, they also stamped circle's onto their monsters using the primary colors and paper towel rolls. They then drew a city scape using the illustrations in the book as inspiration with lots of different shapes after we talked about shapes that we see in a city, using oil pastel and then watercolor. They last step was to cut out their monster, glue it on the side of the city AS IF THE MONSTER IS ABOUT TO EAT THE CITY, and add a googly eye, or two or three!
