Line and movement
Fourth graders are learning about line in a new and unique way, and how you can use line to create movement. We started the project with a slide show of different ways to use line to show movement, also famous artworks such as "Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh and how he creates movement using line in his paintings. They then drew diagonal lines with a ruler, colored them in with their choice of colors. They the had to turn the paper over, measure every half inch and use a ruler to make vertical lines, They then had to cut the strips out, and arrange them on black paper by putting number 12 in the middle and arranging them in order but fanning out the opposite ways. Ultimately they are using line to create the illusion of movement.
