keith herring figure drawings and movement lines
Second and third grade learned about the artist Keith Herring and his pop art/graffiti art. We watched a video showing lots of his work such as drawings, murals, sculptures and flip books. We then looked at lots of examples of his figure drawings, and movement lines. They then had to draw their own figures and animals if they choose, the requirement was to draw 15 or more figures including animals. Their figures should each be doing something different with their arms, legs bodies. They were not to add any details except simple shapes, an eye on an animal, hearts, or simple objects in the background. They then had to draw movement lines coming from each figure. They then had to fill the rest of the background with simple lines and trace everything with sharpie. The last step was to add color with marker to their figures.
