Georgia O'Keeffe Flower Prints
Second graders continued to learn about Georgia O' O'Keeffe and her style. They drew flowers in the style of her, enlarged, and sometimes abstracted. They could draw multiple flowers, parts of flowers, one part of the flower, it just has to fill the space. They then picked their favorite and cut it out, taped it to Styrofoam and traced over it so it transferred onto the Styrofoam. They then did one test print on white paper using block print ink and brayers and learning the technique of printmaking, essentially stamping. They then did two final prints and they could choose different colored ink and paper. They learned about positive and negative space throughout the process.
