Clay olympic gold medals
Fourth graders have been learning all about the Olympics in each special, so it continues in art. We started by reading a book about the Olympics and the Gold Medal, and the significance and history behind the medal. They have been playing Olympic games in P.E so I thought it would be neat for them to have their own gold medal. They first sketched some ideas of what they wanted to medal to look like in their sketch books. Then after a demo on how to make a clay medal they constructed their own clay medal with the design they came up with on it. I spray painted them gold and we strung a ribbon through it!
